Scotland: Edinburgh

Townsend and I decided to go on one last solo trip before welcoming our sweet Galilee. As always, flight deals dictated our destination and when I found a nonstop round trip flight to Scotland for $500 I booked it right away!

We spent our first 3 nights in Edinburgh at a fabulous Airbnb. Naturally, our first stop was to Elephant House Cafe, the coffee house that JK Rowling wrote the early books of the Harry Potter series. The place has tons of Harry Potter memorabilia but the best part is the writing on the walls in the bathroom. Fans from across the world have written messages, quotes, and professed their love for Harry and friends. My personal fav is a quote from the lovable Molly Weasly speaking to Bellatrix Lestrange, "NOT MY DAUGHTER YOU BITCH!" hehehe, doesn't get much better!

We spent the rest of our first day roaming the streets making many stops to find bathrooms because when you are 32 weeks pregnant you have pee....pretty much always.

Our second day was spent touring castles and having afternoon tea, which I am now obsessed with, give me alllllll the clotted cream. We spent the morning at Holyroodhouse Castle, which is the Queen of England's residence while she is visiting Scotland. It was beautiful and so much fun to see the history of both Scottish and English royalty.

We had afternoon tea in the Signet Library at the Colonnades. It was so elegant and the food was fantastic. Seriously, I want to have tea daily.

Next up was our drive to the Scottish Highlands which deserves a blog post all of its own, so... stay tuned.
