Saba Rock

Well, I'm still working a million hours a week and therefore still day dreaming of where to go next. Looking back on these pictures of Saba has me leaning towards a tropical destination!

Getting to Saba isn't easy. But, waiting for a flight when you are in St. Maarten is not the worst layover you could have. Flying down to Saba is complicated because of all the connections and you really have no control. But, its easy to make the best of it when in the Caribbean. Mojitos on the beach? YES PLEASE!

After a couple of mojitos, the flight into Saba was a little scary to say the least. The smallest airplane combined with the shortest landing pad ever is enough to make you sweat.

Saba is part of the Dutch Antilles and has a land area of 5 miles, so its tiny! One road, creatively called "the Road" circulates the island. But this island is full of adventure, hiking, snorkeling, and every other water sport you can imagine.

Our hotel was something out of a travel magazine. The restaurant at the Shearwater Resort was fantastic and view unforgettable. You have to drive up the steepest hill on the island to actually get to it. Even our cab driver stalled out on the drive up so we had to walk the rest of the way!

Our first day, we hiked up Mt. Scenery. It is the highest point in Saba and in the Netherlands Kingdom. Our peaceful hike started under a canopy of trees that opened up into a beautiful blue sky. The views of Windwardside were epic.

My brother took us on a small hike down to the Tide Pools at Flat Point. Vibrant colors combined with stunning views make this destination a must!

Last stop, The Bottom, which is where my brother lived and went to Medical School. He took us down to Wells Beach. Not your typical Caribbean white sand beach, the rocky coastline of Saba made it difficult to get into the water. But once you are in, the snorkeling is incredible! We climbed through arches and caves, it was amaze! Our trip ended with the most breathtaking sunset that left me dreaming of our next trip.
