Christie and Brig win for best wedding weekend ever! They were kind enough to host their family and friends in Breckenridge, Colorado. This is a special place for both of them for multiple reasons but most importantly, it's the place where they kindled their romance so many years ago. Brigdon was a ski instructor in Vail and Christie was spending time at her parents vacation home when they decided to get together with some friends and the rest is history. Brigdon FINALLY proposed last year with quite possibly the most gorgeous ring ever, and thats when the planning began!
I had so much fun getting to know their family and friends and exploring Breckenridge! I took the gondola down to town on the first day and did some shopping, ate some crepes, and took a million pictures. Pretty much the perfect day.
The second day all the girls got together and went on a "hike". I put that in quotes because really, we paid $16 for the ski lift to take us to the top of the mountain and we walked down. My kinda hike :). The views were incredible and the weather was so perfect.
That evening was the rehearsal dinner and it was nothing short of perfection. Sprawling views, cocktails, and the best BBQ dinner (yes, there was mac and cheese) ever! Bridesmaids, groomsmen and family gave toasts of memories of the couple and it brought me back to college days with Brigdon (War Eagle!) and high school days with Christie!
In her mom's toast she talked about how when Christie was little she used to wonder if her husband has been born yet, and if he lives nearby, and wished she could watch him grow up. And it made me start thinking about my Leon and whether his wife is growing up somewhere around us. Such a strange thing to think about but in reality, Christie and Bridgon grew up in the same community, went to school together, and then ended up together so many years later.
And finally the wedding!!! This venue was like something out of a dream! Christie did such an amazing job designing the venue and planning the event. The flowers were gorgeous, the dinner was delicious, and the band was exceptional. We danced all night but the best part of the party was when Allen Hunt got up and sang Wagon Wheel. I don't think there was a single person sitting down while Allen brought us all back to our college days at Lambda Chi and Sky Bar.
Such a wonderful weekend reminiscing with friends and exploring the beautiful town of Breckenridge. I only wish it could have lasted longer!
